Does anyone know the significance of the bee on the notice board?
The significance of the bee motif is probably related to its symbolism as an emblem of perseverance and industry as depicted on the coat of arms of the nearby town of Blackburn.

After the defeat of the Saxons by William the Conqueror, the township (Lower Darwen) became a part of the estate of ‘Henry de Lacey’ (Lord of Clitheroe).
