    Hi,

I’m looking for Information about the history of the building I work in.

What I know is that the building / whole estate was a paper or cardboard mill, some people be leave that it was owed by Smufit (but this may only be a guess). The company in the building now has owed it for at least 35 years and when they got it, it had been empty for a long time. There is another rumor that it was used in WW2 by the MOD but I’m not sure about this.

It is a fantastic, old tall building next to the canal. The building still has the old gantry crane made by “Herbert Morris Ltd” that was used to load the canal boats (although it hasn’t moved for what looks like 60 years).  There is a lot of History in this building and I would like to find any information on it, any old pictures would be great.

The post code is W7 2QA.

    Hi Skyline

As i sent in an email, I have not been able to find any reference to the building being occupied by a paper related business. I have checked Trade Directories etc.

If there is a connection it would probably be a converter- a company making boxes, bags or envelopes. It would need to be a long way back for them to be using canal transport.

I see there is a planning application in the area – presumably Skyline Industries are moving on?
