ParticipantBumped into a fellow historian, John Jack former engineer at Stoneywood M.G. & Carrongrove papermills. He told me the war monument dedicated to those from the mills that served in the Great war had been taken from the last remaining mill building ,
refurbished & placed in a local council office.
longer story to perhaps tell at a later date. Thanks to Denny & Dunipace heritage society.John Sherry
ParticipantHello John Wheeler, good to see your reply.
I wonder if you remember a Young John Jack who to the best of my knowledge joined Stoneywood M.G. mill as a young apprentice engineer? John is seen in the above video and has been a great help to me in providing information on the Denny papermills. In fact I bumped into him the other day and he gave me some welcome information on a war memorial dedicated to those that were involved in the great war. I will post more information on the memorial very soon.
I also was in contact with John Rae another engineer who kindly sent me some artifacts relating to Stoneywood I will post these also.

ParticipantHi There, I used to work for Inveresk at Carrongrove Denny Stirlingshire and later Robert Horne paper merchants.
Robert Horne bought paper and board products from mills and resold them to printers. I clearly remember Star card from the Star paper mill.
kind regards.

ParticipantI have gathered information on Carrongrove papermill some can be found on the following link. https://www.flickr.com/photos/21499041@N04/albums
Carrongrove now demolished was on the site of Herbertshire papermill.
Carrongrove bought over and knocked down Herbertshire in the early 1900’s
Carrongrove originally produced esparto grass paper, fine writings, coated paper, coloured paper, cheque paper. I had over the course of time 5 paper machines all fourdrinier The last machine was called the Carron twin. I mostly made graphic boards and owned the Gemini brand. This brand was later sold to Tullis Russell of Glenrothes.-
